A Critical Analysis of Iqbal's Prose Style

Abstract

The significant feature of Iqbal's literary cult is that he presents even serious and intellectual content interestingly and colorfully. Like poetry, his prose too at times is equipped with the semblance of characterization. Especially while explaining certain academic doctrines, his visualization paints such pictures as lively and self-realistic. Here Iqbal's writing is blended with a special approach focusing solidly on philosophical issues. Scholarly terminologies and unique vocabulary of Arabic and Persian are also found in his theories of Self-realization and the like, but the clear depiction is evident everywhere. Maximum presentation with limited use of words is a common feature of Iqbal's writing as the same becomes all more important in letters. In such instances, there is no room for extended writing, and because the writer has belief in the academic pursuits of the bearer, he can adopt a path of eloquence with ease. In such writings, ordinary readers can easily understand Iqbal's point of view. Without exaggeration, it can be stated that such writings are more comprehensive in understanding Iqbal's thought than the philosophical intricacies prevalent in the writings of Iqbal's admirers. In light of these, certain complexities of Iqbal's thought can easily be understood.
